Title: Chief Minister inaugurates three Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Shillong

Addressing the gathering, Hon'ble Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said: “From 2018 onwards, it has been the endeavour of our Government to focus on the social sectors. While infrastructure and GDP are important, it is meaningless if the benefits cannot reach every citizen. That is why health and education have been given top priority.”
“When we took over, Meghalaya was at the bottom in almost everything, especially health and education. The journey was not easy. We started by identifying the real cause of the problems and then creating very specific, focused actionables. Technology played a very important role in that.”
Emphasizing on outcome over optics, the Chief Minister added:
“Launching the ambulance is the easiest part. The real happiness will come when we save lives, when we are able to provide that medicine to the child, when we are able to attend to the poor, the needy and the elders. This launching will be meaningless if at the end of the day it is lying in some parking lot. It's not about the Foundation, not about the ambulance, not about the doctors – it's about the patient and the lives that we save. If that thought process goes inside every person working on this, that will be the real success of this program. This will be a major game changer for last-mile healthcare delivery in Meghalaya.”
He also noted the need for stronger digital connectivity for such tech-enabled health interventions, mentioning feedback received during his public interaction program, CM Connect
