The Meghalaya Identification, Registration (Safety & Security) of Migrant Workers (MIRSS) Act & Rules 2020 mandates that every Migrant Worker shall have to register himself/herself and obtain a separate Registration Card as issued under provisions of this Act and rules made thereunder. It shall be the duty of every contractor/employer, employing or engaging any Migrant Worker in any manner whatsoever to ensure the registration of such Migrant Worker failing which, the owner of any such establishment shall be liable to penalties under relevant provisions of the Act.

It has come to the notice of the undersigned that various fraudulent Registration Certificates and Acknowledgement Slips are being generated and shown at the various check gates of the State and in other areas. Any unauthorized duplication or alteration of any document or electronic record with fraudulent intent is punishable under Section 336 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
