Title: Health Minister Announces Expansion of Jowai Civil Hospital from 100 to 200 Beds

Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla made the announcement during an interaction with beneficiaries of MHIS- PMJAY on September 19.
Shylla said he had received several complaints about overcrowding at the hospital, with patients sometimes being forced to stay in verandahs and corridors due to the shortage of beds.
He said the decision to increase the hospital's capacity was taken to address these difficulties and improve healthcare service for the people. He expressed his appreciation to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma for accepting his request to increase the hospital's capacity.
The Minister further said that the Government is working to strengthen healthcare facilities in both urban and rural areas di that people can receive treatment closer to home.
As part of this effort, he highlighted the upgrading of Jarain PHC in Amlarem into a Sub-Divisional Hospital and Ummulong CHC into a 50 bed facility.
Shylla also said the Health Department is planning to upgrade Laskein CHC into Sub-Divisional Hospital
