Speaking during the distribution and interaction with the vendors, Chief Minister, Shri Conrad K Sangma, said that the relocation of the vendors is possible because of the cooperation of every stakeholder in the relocation process. “Though it may look like a small and simple step, it is one of the most challenging situations that we have faced because it is not only about development but linked with the livelihood of the people and the overall beautification of the city,” he said.

He further informed that prime locations in the city have been given to vendors to ensure balance between the livelihoods of the vendors and the aesthetics of the city and its roads and streets. He urged tourists and citizens alike to visit these vending zones informing that these vending zones and areas will be created into a lively environment with toilet facilities, sitting areas, decorative lighting, live performances in the evenings so that all can enjoy these zones
