Title: MNREDA Wins SKOCH Gold Award 2026 for Government of Meghalaya's Flagship CM Solar Mission
Press Release Number:
24/06/2026
Description:
The award was received on behalf of the Directorate by Ms. Elizabeth Kharjana, Asst. Director, MNREDA and Ms. Audrey H. Mukhim Accountant, MNREDA.
The Chief Minister’s Solar Mission is a flagship initiative of the Government of Meghalaya aimed at addressing energy poverty and improving access to reliable electricity through clean and sustainable technologies. The scheme seeks to empower households, institutions, and enterprises by providing solar hybrid inverter systems of varying capacities along with solar water heaters, supported through a combination of state subsidies, beneficiary contributions, and bank financing. Designed with a holistic, solution based approach, the mission covers end-to-end deployment—including supply, installation, maintenance, and service support—catering especially to rural and underserved areas with limited grid access. By promoting decentralized renewable energy adoption, the mission is expected to enhance energy security, reduce dependence on conventional power sources, improve quality of life, and drive socio-economic development while contributing to environmental sustainability and climate resilience in the state
