Title: Ri Bhoi Hosts District-Level Inter-School Athletic Meet 2026 with Record Participation

The meet commenced on April 22, 2026, and will continue until April 24, 2026. At the opening ceremony, the DSO observed a one-minute silence in memory of the late Retina Hanse, a young athlete who had brought pride to the district through her sporting achievements and recently passed away in an accident.
A total of 45 schools from across Ri Bhoi District are participating in the event, with approximately 1,350 students competing in various disciplines. Notably, this is the first time the number of participants has crossed the thousand mark in the history of the meet.
To encourage the participants, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) of Ri Bhoi, Shri. O. Massar, MPS attended the event as the chief guest, accompanied by, Shri Narayan Upadhyay, IPS as the guest of honour. Also present on the occasion were Smti Deizy Marwein, an athletics coach from the Directorate of Sports, Government of Meghalaya, District Sports Officer, Shri. Bobby L. Nongbet, along with teachers and other officials
