In his address, Shri. Richard Yanthan, IAS, Joint Secretary stated that, “This event seeks to recognize the power of sports and athleticism in shaping lives, especially of the youth. The government is committed towards building Meghalaya as a centre for sports excellence in the years to come, for which the government is investing on infrastructure development, and athlete development which is evident from the various schemes and policies which are being implemented”. He stated that this event is a commitment to the roadmap, indicating the efforts of the government in addressing the importance of promoting sports for the overall development and well-being of the youth of the state
