Description:
The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District has issued a public notice informing all vehicle owners and drivers to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989 (as amended) in the interest of public safety and to ensure the smooth flow of traffic within the district. Any violation of the rules shall attract penal action, including fines and/or imprisonment under the relevant provisions of the Act.
All vehicle owners and drivers are advised to ensure that their vehicles are operated only with valid documents including Registration Certificate, Driving Licence, Insurance, Permit (where applicable), Fitness, Tax, Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) and other statutory compliances and to strictly follow all safety requirements in the interest of public safety.
Executive Magistrates, Police personnel and Enforcement personnel from the office of the District Transport Officer (DTO) will conduct regular checking across the district and the public is urged to cooperate with the authorities and comply with all traffic regulations to ensure safety and order on the roads
