Title: East Khasi Hills Police Initiate Departmental Enquiry into Allegations of Illegal Money Collection

A Special Team was dispatched this morning to undertake further verification and investigation at the locations concerned. The two temporary sheds at Mawkhanu and Thangshalai have also been dismantled.
The East Khasi Hills District Police reiterates its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and accountability in the discharge of police duties. There is zero tolerance for any form of illegal collection of money, extortion or corruption by police personnel, and any such misconduct, if established, will invite strict departmental action in accordance with the rules.
All truck drivers and vehicle owners are urged not to make any form of payment to police personnel on the highway. In the event of any demand for money, harassment or other improper conduct, they are requested to immediately report the matter by dialling 112, contacting the Police Control Room, Shillong at 6009196479, or the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, so that appropriate action can be taken.
The East Khasi Hills District Police assures the public that the allegations are being treated with due seriousness and that the enquiry will be conducted fairly, objectively and transparently, with appropriate action to follow on the basis of established facts.
