The Commissioner and Secretary, General Administration Department (GAD), Government of Meghalaya, has informed that a two-minute silence will be observed on 30th January, 2026 at 11:00 AM on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, in memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for India’s freedom.
At 10:59 A.M., a siren will be sounded for one minute to warn all concerned about the commencement of the two-minute silence at 11:00 A.M. On hearing the siren, all persons are requested to stand and observe silence, where work and movement must be stopped throughout the State.
During this period, All India Radio should stop broadcasting and traffic will come to a complete standstill for two minutes.
At 11:02 A.M., the siren will be sounded again to indicate the end of the silence
