Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Hon'ble MLA, Shri Rupert Momin stated that the Unity March was organized to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. He stated that the event seeks to rekindles the ideals of Sardar Patel, who played a pivotal role in uniting the princely states of India into a single nation. “India has transformed from a struggling economy to becoming the fourth largest economy in the world. Our nation has progressed in every sphere, but the major battle of this generation is the fight against drug addiction, and therefore efforts are on to make North Garo Hills a drug free district," said Momin.
