Description:
In exercise of powers under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, I, Shri. Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, do hereby order as follows:
No driver, owner or person in charge of any heavy or commercial vehicle shall park, halt or cause such vehicle to stand on the carriageway or paved shoulder of the National Highways, except at a designated parking bay, lay-by or Wayside Amenity.
This order takes immediate effect and remains valid for two months from the date hereof, unless withdrawn or modified earlier, and is passed ex-parte given the urgency of the matter.
Contravention is punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in addition to action under Section 122 read with Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
This order shall be promulgated by publication at conspicuous places along the said stretch, at the concerned Police Station(s) and Transport check-gates, in terms of Section 163 read with Section 153, BNSS, 2023.
