Description:
The festival will celebrate the distinctive crafts, artistic practices and traditional knowledge of Meghalaya’s villages, highlighting the skills and creativity that sustain local livelihoods and preserve cultural traditions across generations.
Bringing together representatives from 11 participating villages, the festival will provide a platform for artisans and village communities to showcase their handmade products, demonstrate traditional craft-making techniques and share the stories, knowledge and cultural significance behind their work. Visitors will have an opportunity to engage with the crafts and the people who continue to practice and preserve these traditions.
Organized under the observance of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Divas, the festival also underscores the importance of recognizing and celebrating the cultural heritage and contributions of indigenous communities. It places the villages and their practitioners at the Centre of the celebration, acknowledging the knowledge, labour and creativity that keep these traditions alive.
